My opinion on the name Paris
My opinion may be completely new: I think Paris name has built originally on Para-ese which means "related to the side [of the Seine River]": This significance is linked with Lud-esse and Lutetia (Paris): Lutetia may derive from Celtic root, luto- or luteuo-, which means "marsh" or "swamp" and which survives today in the Gaelic loth ("marsh") and the Breton loudour ("dirty"). As such, it would be related to other place names in Europe including Lutudarum (Derbyshire, England); Lodève (Luteua) and Ludesse (France); and Lutitia (Germany).
